About

Karl Verkade is creating ambient music.

He hopes you like it.

New album available now.

Buy a delay pedal and you too ( 😉 ) can make an ambient album.

Splendid.
Karl.

    Hi Karl,

My name is Derik Iverson. I am a junior at the University of Minnesota-Duluth majoring in a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Acting. I’m contacting you because I am a sound designer for a show here on campus called “The Laramie Project” by Moises Kaufman. As I was doing some initial research for the show, I came across your beautiful “Things we Lost” and “Homeland.” I showed these songs to the director and she was thrilled. They fit perfectly with the show.

So, I am emailing you with two questions:

1.) Do we have your permission to use some of your original songs in this production? You will be credited.

2.) This is a stretch…I’m having trouble finding music that fits as well as “Things we Lost” and “Homeland” does with the show. The director and I are looking for ambient guitar pieces that don’t exactly have the liquidy floating sound in the background. Just ambient guitar. So, would you be willing to compose a few original songs for the production as well? Again, you will be credited, most likey by “Original Music by Karl Verkade.” We would LOVE to be able to work with a such a brilliant composer on this show.

    Whaddya say?

Thanks so much for your time!

Hi Derik, my apologies…for some reason WordPress did not notify me of this comment. Thanks for the kind words, and sure, you are welcome to use both ‘Things We Lost’ and ‘Homeland’, if the project has not already passed.

As far as composing original songs, I will check my timeframe and see what I can do. I’m also emailing you this, and again, my apologies for seeing this comment so late. Thanks again!

    Cheers,
    Karl

    Hi Karl,

My name is Dan Corkery and I’m based in Cork City, Ireland. I just discovered your Bandcamp site and am now the proud owner of all 4 albums you have on offer.

I just wanted to ask about using your work as the main background textures for work of my own. I don’t think that would make it a colaberation in the true sence..or any sence at all really, but I would obviously give you full credit for all and any work I would use.

For the record, I’m only starting out down this creative road and, even at 46 years of age, I am just a beginner..so we are not talking about a project that will end up like a Brian Eno production..though I can dream, I guess.

Anyway, please let me know what I can and cannot use. Like I said, I have the 4 albums, so I would obviously like to use some or all of the stuff from the two I purchased..but whatever you are willing to let me use will be greatly appreciated.

One last point..if and when I am finished, I will contact you about sending on a copy of my work for you to review and sign off on before I do anything else with it.

All the best for now..and keep on inspiring us with your work.

    Dan

Hi Karl. I read on gear talk: praise & worship where you have ambient pads in different keys you let churches use. Could I get some more info on this please?

    Thanks, Casey

Hey guys, check out Guitarforworship.com. It’s Karl’s main blog, and he is MUCH more likely to see any comments on that page than this one
